Continued from here.Hermione wanted to tell Fred that she wasn't going to tell her any such thing when Rupert and Wesley walked into the room. She was glad when Wesley told Fred that her idea was brilliant, so that she'd realize that they were with her, no matter what."Of course we aren't, love," Rupert said. "Siedel didn't expect you to live through your ordeal, I'm sure. His sending you to another dimension was simply a convenient way to...make sure no one found you. And to keep his hands clean.""Fred," Hermione said, walking over to the bed and sitting down next to her. "He tried to take you away from me. The last time someone killed someone I loved, I..."She paused for a moment, looking down at her hands before looking up at Fred. She had never told anyone this before - not even Rupert knew. Only Harry did. And Harry had promised never to tell."When Ron died, I was lying on the floor in pain, his body right next to me, Voldemort nearby. Now, there are three spells that every witch and wizard are taught to never, ever use, no matter what the circumstances, on another witch or wizard. If they do, they're branded evil...wrong..." She took a deep breath. "The worst of the lot is Avada Kedavra, the killing curse. And when Ron fell next to me, I grabbed his wand because mine was being held by Voldemort...and I said it.""Hermione," Rupert said softly. She shrugged. "It didn't work...but I had to try." She reached out and pushed Fred's hair back from her face. "So I understand why you have to do this. He wanted to kill you, and he's killed others. He has to be stopped because I will not let him take you or the babies away from me. From us. So whatever you have to do, I'll be there with you.""As will I," Wesley said."And I," Rupert agreed. "But only if you want this, Fred. You're the one he hurt. You're the one who makes the decision how we proceed with this."
Hermione laughed as Fred continued to tease Wesley, causing him to turn even more red than he had been mere moments ago. She had to admit that not so long ago, she would have been reacting the same way. The idea of public make-out sessions had never been something she had liked...until she had met Fred.At the house, she went into the kitchen with Rupert and Wesley. While the guys got the dishes and silverware, she grabbed four glasses out of the cabinet, setting them on Rupert's tea tray along with pitchers of water, still lemonade and milk. She carried it out in time for Fred to look at them with a guilty expression on her face as she confessed to eating the egg rolls."Obviously, the babies like egg rolls," Rupert said with a laugh as he started setting the plates down on the table.Hermione nodded and kissed Fred's cheek. "Next time we'll just get a double order. What would everyone like to drink?""Lemonade," Wesley said. "Since Fred ate all the egg rolls, does that mean I get more of the Lo Mein?"Rupert swatted his husband's hands away. "Only if there some leftover," he told him with a grin. "And I'll just take some water."Hermione nodded and poured their glasses for them before looking over at Fred. "Love? What would you like?"
Fred was happy that none of them seemed to mind she had ate all the egg rolls. She sat down at the table and smirked when Wesley tried to get more Lo Mien. "Nice try, Wesley," she with a small laugh. "You have to remember I'm eating for three now." She stuck her tongue out at him just as Hermione was asking what she wanted to drink. "Milk, please."After Hermione had poured the milk, everyone started to fill their plates with food. Wesley and Fred kept looking at each other, almost like they were afraid the other one was going to get more than them. It made Fred giggle, considering how much food Wesley could eat and how skinny he was."How are the wedding plans coming about?" Rupert suddenly asked as he put a spoonful of rice in his mouth."We're still waiting to hear back from the coven," Fred explained. "There's a few couples in front of us.""If you don't hear from them soon, I'll ring them for you," Rupert said.Fred nodded and finished off her plate of food. She then drank the rest of her milk. She was completely full and suddenly tired. "I think I'm going to put my plate in the kitchen and lie down for a bit," she said as she stood. She put the dishes away and went to the bedroom she shared with Hermione and laid down. Within moments, she was asleep.
As Fred and Wesley eyed each other suspiciously over the food, Rupert shot Hermione a look and shook his head with a smile. It was moments like this that Hermione truly loved, that made her feel she was part of something wonderful...and normal. When she had been at Hogwarts, she had needed moments like this - moments where Ron and Harry and she had bickered about something stupid or where they had just sat around talking - to keep herself grounded in all the weird and painful happenings that were otherwise going on in their lives. She just hoped that the four of them never lost this, no matter what happened. It had seemed as time had gone on with Ron and Harry, that the normal moments had been buried by everything else. And that, in the end, had led to her and Harry drifting apart, she felt. They couldn't be normal with each other after Voldemort, after Ron's death. But the fact that she, Fred, Wesley and Rupert could, despite almost being torn apart by the First and despite what they had been forced to do earlier...that told her more about the strength of their relationship than anything else. After Fred had disappeared to have a lie down, the rest of them finished their food and took everything into the kitchen to wash up. As Hermione turned on the water to rinse the dishes, Rupert suddenly shooed her away from the sink."Go spend time with Fred, love," he told her. "Wesley and I will handle this."She looked at them. "Are you sure?""Yes. Get some rest, and we'll see you in the morning." Rupert looked like someone that had something up his sleeve, but Hermione decided not to push it."All right. Night, you two."Hermione gave both of them a kiss before heading to her and Fred's private bedroom, somehow knowing that she had probably gone there and not their shared bedroom. When she opened the door, she smiled at the sight of Fred sleeping, thinking how beautiful and peaceful she looked. Crawling into the bed, she cuddled up behind her, wrapping her arms around her and holding her as she let herself start to drift off to sleep as well."I love you, Fred," she murmured.
Fred rushed into the bedroom and plucked Hermione's shoes from under the bed. All of them had been rushing around for most of the morning, getting ready for the ceremony. She couldn't believe Hermione and her were finally getting married. Rupert and Wesley had stepped forward and finished with all the preparations when it became obvious it would become too difficult for Fred and Hermione to handle everything with Fred being pregnant. They'd planned a small ceremony at the house since it was now winter in California and they had been getting a lot of rain showers. All of them had decorated the house, but didn't go overboard since it was just going to be them there since Buffy and Dawn couldn't make it. "Shoes," Fred said as she waddled back out into the living room and tossed the shoes at Hermione. She then looked over at Rupert and Wesley, who were staring at the both of them. "What?""Nothing," Wesley said before he glanced at Rupert.Fred shrugged and suddenly realized her dress still needed to be zipped. Sighing, she knew she wouldn't be able to reach it herself. She loved being pregnant but sometimes it got on her nerves. "What time will they be here?" she asked as she continued to think of a way to get her dress zipped up."In about thirty minutes," Rupert said after he'd glanced at his watch.Fred sighed. Maybe she could whip something up to zip the dress up.
Shoes. Shoes. Where in the bloody hell were her shoes? If she had been thinking straight, she would have used her wand to do a location spell, but as it was, she was also trying to get her hair to cooperate since it had picked that day to be problematic.Just then Fred appeared and tossed her the shoes she had been looking for. Not even thinking about it, Hermione smiled at her soon-to-be wife and slipped them on. When she finished, she looked at Fred and furrowed her brow."Turn around, love," she told her. Once Fred had, she zipped up her dress before laying a gentle kiss on her shoulder. "There you go." She then looked over at Rupert, frowning at the look at his face but too busy to find out exactly what his expression was all about. "You just said thirty minutes?"He nodded. "Yes. Elaine said she'd be here around one.""Okay...I'm going to try to tame this rat's nest I call my hair," she said, rushing into the bedroom and finding her wand. Normally, she didn't like using it on her hair if she could help it because she had heard horror stories about people's hair falling out from too much magic being cast. But today, she was about to make an exception.Standing in front of the mirror, she said a few words to quickly smooth out her hair, then curl them into perfect ringlets. Once that was done, she put two combs into her hair to hold it back from her face. All right, now she was presentable.Hurrying back out, she smiled at the others. "All right, I think I'm ready finally." She looked over at Fred and held out her hand to her. "Love?"
